Athletes Who Smoked Marijuana
Medical marijuana is consumed by regular people, famous people and athletes alike. With over 50% of the population supporting marijuana legislation of some sort, it is only natural that so many people, including athletes, have been around the plant. Some athletes are known for their marijuana habits, but others you might be surprised to hear have consumed marijuana.
The following are six famous athletes who smoked marijuana.
1. Michael Phelps. Perhaps the most famous pro-pot athlete, Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympian of all time. And he smoked weed. A lot of weed. Just look at these memes to get an idea of how the public reacted when he was caught smoking after winning all those gold medals.
2. Usain Bolt. Another famous Olympian, Usain Bolt broke records for being the fastest runner in the world. He also grew up in Jamaica, where marijuana is pretty popular. He’s admitted to smoking marijuana while growing up.
3. Lebron James. Lebron James is arguably one of the best NBA players in history. While he doesn’t consume marijuana these days (those pesky athlete drug tests), he has admitted to trying marijuana when he was in high school. He speaks about it in his book Shooting Stars.
4. Randy Moss. The highly decorated and now retired football player holds the record for most touchdown receptions in a single season. He admitted to using marijuana during his NFL career (making those who say marijuana makes you lazy have to rethink their opinions a bit).
5. Jerome Simpson. This wide receiver is probably best known for his front flip touchdown, which you can see below. He was detained by police after they seized a large package of marijuana in-route to his house. They also discovered six pounds of marijuana in his house after further investigation, making us wonder why he needed more delivered in the first place.
6. Nick Fairley. Seeing as how the NFL Super Bowl is coming up quickly, why not talk about another marijuana smoking football player? Nick Fairley was the St. Louis Rams Defensive Tackle when he was arrested for marijuana possession in 2012.
